This post is by Tom Sarach, Jr., our CEO (the big boss!).
To say that understanding the complexities and impacts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is paramount to future business success is an understatement at best. So we have established an ACA Advisory Board, comprised of human resources professionals, to discuss and understand the impact of the ACA on the contingent workforce and their businesses.
The mission of the board is to fully understand and ensure compliance with the ACA, the third largest regulatory bill ever passed by Congress. The board will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas and understanding regarding the ACA and its regulations, so members can minimize the cost and impact of the law on business.
It is our goal to ensure that member businesses will have access to all webinars, facts and information available from our firm, so that each business can determine the best course of action to manage their permanent and contingent workforce.
The goals of the board are:
- To further the understanding of the ACA and its impact on member businesses.
- To ensure compliance with the ACA.
- To develop a system of best practices for managing the requirement of the ACA, especially as they apply to contingent workers.
- To minimize the cost and impact of the ACA on business.
- To provide members with the best advantages for the continued recruiting and retention of a quality workforce.
As the regulations continue to evolve, it is clearly evident that compliance will take some getting used to and a full understanding of the law’s impact will be required. For example, there are regulations still in the comment period (meaning that they’re subject to change) proposing a 12-month look-back period for determining an employee’s full-time status. If you use contingent workers, the length of the look-back period could be a major factor in the law’s impact on your business.
Stay tuned as the findings and recommendations of the board are shared with all our clients, and rest assured that Reliance Staffing & Recruiting will continue to be your partner in human resources and ACA compliance.
