Jospeh Tennial was a contractor for the military for many years, but his contract was about to run its course. It was at that point that he knew he had to pursue other options.
Tennial came to Reliance Staffing in late 2015 seeking an opportunity to transition from his contract position to something more permanent. He came to Reliance based on recommendations he had heard about the company.
“I wasn’t certain what the experience would be like,” he said. “But I thought I would give Reliance Staffing a chance and the application process was simple and straightforward.”
And it was apparent, right from the start, that he was serious about his transition.
“Joe is a staffing professional’s dream candidate,“ said Donna Brooks, Tennial’s placement specialist with Reliance Staffing. “He made a great first impression, coming into the office dressed professionally with a solid resume. I knew he’d have success.”
Shortly after Tennial, a former logistician responsible for ensuring ships were properly stocked with vaccines, interviewed with Reliance Staffing and completed the basic, but thorough, preliminary screening process, an opportunity arose for him.
“That same week that I applied with Reliance, I had an interview and a match with a job that matched my criteria,” he said. “I was pleasantly surprised!”
That opportunity was to work on a temporary basis at Jo-Kell, a Hampton Roads-based electrical supply company.
With Tennial’s background working with the Navy supply chain, and Jo-Kell as one of the Navy’s top electrical suppliers, it was just a matter of time finding where he would fit within the company.
“Reliance Staffing – Donna – and us came up with a plan to try to find out the way to best use Joe and where Joe had his best fit too,” said Jim Baur, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Jo-Kell. “The jobs we had available had to be as promising for him as it is for us. He was in the warehouse for awhile, in the shop, and then we had an administrative role open up.”
The timing ended up being perfect for Tennial.
After working with Reliance Staffing for about six months, he is now a full-time operations analyst at Jo-Kell, purchasing and expediting engineering parts that the assembly team needs for construction.
“Donna was very nice and courteous through the process,” said Tennial. “Everyone at Reliance worked with me to ultimately help me achieve this position.”
Now Tennial no longer worries about whether he needs to move onto a new job, as he has a permanent position.
“After working for a contractor so long, it feels great to have a permanent position. Working with a contractor, you never know. It’s year-to-year basis. Working here at Jo-Kell, I love my job and the stability,” he said.
And what about Reliance Staffing?
“I give Reliance 5-stars!”Share this Post
