Virginia, the mother of presidents, has gone through yet another election cycle.
The national campaign clearly got the most attention, but it’s important to remember that in Hampton Roads several important decisions were also made.
First, congratulations to Mayors Will Sessoms (Virginia Beach) and Linda Johnson (Suffolk) on their re-election.
Second, a referendum on public transportation was defeated in Virginia Beach. We feel very strongly that the labor force must have access to effective transportation and believe that Hampton Roads Transit looking into alternatives is a step in the right direction.
Third, we are and have been a right to work state. While the constitutional amendment was defeated, Virginia has been right to work since 1947 and we remain as committed as ever to ensuring that the labor market remains unencumbered by burdensome regulation. Bottom-line: we want associates to get jobs and clients to have access to great talent.
