Workers Compensation Risk Certification
by Lynn Connor
If you are using or have used a temporary staffing services in the past, which
most firms have at one point or another, have you asked if you staffing company
is risk certified? The Workers Compensation Risk Certification (WRC, pronounced "work")
is a staffing specific program focusing on the critical area of safety in
the co-employer relationship. The WRC Certified Seal identifies a firm's
commitment
to safety early in the sales process.
The WRC standard is administered by industry leadership including the WRC
Advisory Council, the American Staffing Association (ASA), the voice of the
staffing
industry, and RCS Services (RCS), the nation's fourth largest independent
risk management consulting firm.
Reliance Staffing Services has been risk certified and in the Workers' Compensation
Risk Certification program since December 2005. This certification program
establishes a standard of operational excellence in risk management for the
staffing industry, reducing operating costs for staffing firms, and accelerates
the development of voluntary workers' compensation markets for the industry.
This program evaluates several key components of a staffing firm's operational
structure as they relate to risk management practices. "Now there is a
better way for staffing firms to control risks, lower costs and keep employees
safe" said the American Staffing Associations President, Richard Wahlquist.
The WRC Certified logo or seal distinguishes staffing services whose commitment
to risk management is fundamental and supported by best practices. These firms
subscribe to a standard of excellence offering key customer benefits such as:
Preservation of your safety record
Familiarity with your facilities
Superior matching of talent
Lower turnover
Increased productivity
Safety consultation
Drawing influence from the ISO family of standards, staffing firms undergo
a comprehensive operational evaluation process to earn the designation
WRC Certified. Many Hampton Roads businesses hold this designation. Now,
the
staffing industry is able to measure the quality and standards of their
service as well.
The WRC Certified staffing firm has also agreed to abide by the Industry Code
of Ethics as a condition of certification further demonstrating the firm's
ability to differentiate themselves from the non certified staffing firm. So
the question remains; "Is your staffing firm WRC Certified?"
