We work together as a team.
Safco Products Co. is a leading provider of organization and comfort-enhancing workplace furniture and products. For more than 40 years, Safco has researched, developed and built high-quality, innovative products and backed them with the best service in the industry.
In late 2008, Safco built a 302,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art distribution center in Windsor. The center accommodates 30,000 pallet locations and houses Safco’s full line of 48-hour Quick-Ship products, extending Safco’s reach and responsiveness.
Safco’s regional distribution manager, Scott Bauer, remembers the company’s first interactions with Reliance Staffing. “We were building this building in Windsor, and Reliance contacted us in Minnesota,” he says. Safco is headquartered in New Hope, Minnesota.
“By that point, we’d done a job fair and had hired some people, and some of them didn’t really work out. So we started to work with Reliance. That was two years ago—two years ago this month, in fact.”
“It’s been a great working relationship, it really has,” Scott says. His most frequent statement to Branch Manager Stephanie Lamb is, “I’m looking for that needle in a haystack” in terms of talent. “I’m looking for the cream of the crop, the first-round draft pick,” Scott says.
Safco has hired seven temporary workers full-time and has an additional seven or eight temporary workers right now, all from Reliance.
“Stephanie and Reliance are meeting and exceeding my expectations of the agency,” Scott says. “And believe me, I’m getting my door knocked on by all the temp agencies. I’ve even tried some of the others in tough times, but I’m completely impressed with Reliance.”
The aspect of Reliance candidates that Scott likes best is the pre-screening Reliance does. “All of the background tests, all of the drug testing, that’s all been done,” Scott says. The pre-screening not only allows Reliance to showcase the best candidates, it takes these tasks off of the hiring manager’s plate.
Stephanie is able to know what Scott and Safco need from her own first-hand experience. “We’ve had Stephanie come out here two or three times to see the job, to learn the job, so she can know what we’re looking for,” Scott says. “Her leadership is extraordinary, and everyone in that office is very customer-oriented.”
“We work together as a team,” Scott says. “I cannot see myself going to another agency—even though we went to the Suffolk office and they had our competitor’s furniture,” he laughs.Share this Post
