Many businesses are closed today, as are almost all government offices. After all, it’s Veterans Day, when we honor the service and sacrifices of veterans and their families.
So why are we open today? Because we believe that the best way to honor veterans is to find jobs for them.
Our placement specialists are reviewing resumes and job openings, interviewing applicants and doing their best to match people to positions.
This recent post in the CareerBuilder Work Buzz blog indicates that many employers regard veterans positively:
According to a CareerBuilder study, 66 percent of employers say that if they had two equally qualified candidates for a job, and one is a U.S. veteran, they would be more likely to hire the veteran. Forty-three percent pay more attention to applications submitted by U.S. veterans.
We totally encourage this trend, and not just because there are so many veterans in Hampton Roads. Veterans have a lot to offer, and employers are recognizing that.
Some of the top qualities that employers like in veterans are their disciplined approach to work, problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Those are pretty good qualities to have on your team!
So we’re spending today showcasing all the great qualities our candidates have (veterans and non-veterans alike), to make a better future for everyone. That’s our tribute, and it’s one we’re honored to make.
Happy Veterans Day!Share this Post
