Placed by Reliance in 2016 as a temporary employee with FMH Conveyors in Hampton, Virginia, Gavin started out with a simple focus, and has grown to be a valuable, and permanent part of the organization.
FMH Conveyors has a long history of delivering solutions for fluid/loose truck loading and unloading applications with trusted product brands. Formerly known as Flexible Material Handling and Best Conveyors, FMH Conveyors came together in 2015 to combine their knowledge and global resources to deliver higher value to material handling customers with an enhanced product portfolio, an applications-focused team of design and configuration experts, and an expansive service and support network.
Mark Bradley, National Account Manager Service with FMH , has positive things to say about Gavin and his interaction with Reliance Staffing; “He’s a quality candidate with good ethics, a go-to attitude, willingness to work inside and outside of his skill set. “ Mark said at his desk in Hampton this week. “Gavin succeeds in our fast-paced environment. He pays attention to details. He maintains a positive attitude, working well with others and he follows directions well, needing minimal supervision.”
FMH Conveyors designs, sells and services products throughout the US, Canada and Latin America. Two manufacturing facilities are located in the United States: Jonesboro, AR; and Hampton, VA.
Gavin’s supervisor, Rachel Hammond, has many positive things to share; “He is experienced and hard-working, and did not hesitate to step in and take charge. Gavin demonstrated his ethic and credibility from the start, and has exceeded expectations.” Rachel also feels that coming through Reliance, the prospect of a good candidate was secure in that testing and interviewing insured a capable, adaptable, and strong candidate. Rachel knows that she can work hand in hand with Gavin, and that the dynamic present has allowed him to grow and develop longevity in his position.
For both parties, working with Reliance Staffing & Recruiting has been positive. FMH Conveyors chose Reliance on reputation. Reliance’s 36 years of placement and staffing experience gave Bradley confidence that his company could work with Reliance and have Gavin on a temporary basis before going to a hire, or permanent position. Additional confidence for Bradley in his choice; Reliance had vetted and interviewed the associate prior to his placement with FMH Conveyors.
Working with Reliance placement specialists also allowed them to partner with a team who could tailor the staffing request to specifics, and match to a large database of over 3,000 prospects to find one that could adapt to evolving demands and criteria present within the industry. Gavin’s placement specialist in the Newport News location noted, “I liked Gavin. He has done quite a bit of customer service work.” seeing compatibility between associate and employer.
Gavin has found a new life within his new permanent position in that it is steady work, in a great environment he feels is his ‘second family’ now. He is proud to be supporting his children and providing for them in a way that gives him both financial and personal satisfaction. He feels that his employer is supportive of his desire to balance work and life, and that he has a wide range of opportunities to grow and learn new skills within the position.
Gavin also feels a sense of connection to his employer, his colleagues, and an enriched sense of connection to the community such stable employment allows him. The position with FMH in Hampton, is Gavin’s first placement with Reliance Staffing & Recruiting. Gavin appreciated the professionalism and consistent communication that he received from his placement specialist and the branch office that he applied to. Part of his transition from military service to civilian life and finding fulfilling work was realized through the support of the teams of Virginia Values Veterans (V3) and Reliance Staffing & Recruiting.
His permanent hire status has shown him that the support and guidance he received has paid off by finding a good-fit position for his skills and talents.
Work by Reliance’s placement specialists gave his employer the ability to respond to his work ethic by giving him growth opportunity and increasing responsibilities within the company. Gavin has been encouraged to extend himself both learning new skills and applying his military background, transitioning into civilian life with a strong employment profile, and with steadily growing confidence and opportunity.
FMH Conveyors received a good-match associate that not only filled the role requested- but brought additional skills and drive to the organization, providing them with a good match to their bottom line: a solid and dependable employee.
