Job Recovery Stalling? Not at Reliance Staffing Services
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, June 13, 2011—The recent news from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that job growth in the United States might be slowing down. Only 54,000 net jobs were added to the economy in May 2011, and April’s job growth was adjusted downward. However, not only has a local staffing firm added three new hires to its rolls, these new hires can help reduce unemployment in Hampton Roads by finding jobs for others.
Reliance Staffing Services, Hampton Roads’ leader in staffing for almost 30 years, is proud to announce the addition of three new placement specialists to our team of human resources experts. Our new employees bring a combined experience of nearly 20 years in staffing, recruiting, human resources and administration to Reliance.
Christina Merry joined our team in early April as a Placement Specialist and Branch Manager of our Newport News location. She has worked for a nonprofit organization as an operations coordinator, proudly assisting adults with disabilities to achieve social and vocational independence. She is passionate about helping others, and believes everyone has a purpose. Her favorite saying is, “the future you see is the future you get.”
Margie Minnix joined our Chesapeake office as a Placement Specialist in late April. Margie has previously worked in staffing, through the shipping industry. She’s excited about moving forward in a new direction with a company like Reliance and is motivated and ready to go the extra mile to get the job done. She looks forward to establishing strong relationships with co-workers, clients, and employees. Her favorite quote is, “Patience is not a virtue; it IS a skill.”
Dana Westerfield joined our Virginia Beach office as a Placement Specialist in mid-May. She’s new to Hampton Roads, having worked in the staffing industry in New Jersey. Dana has a Master’s degree in Counseling and says she is excited to be a part of a really great team. She’s looking forward to applying her education and knowledge of the industry in Virginia Beach.
Staffing is often considered the front line of the war on unemployment, and staffing jobs are a leading indicator of gains in employment. By adding our three new placement specialists, Reliance has increased our ability to put Hampton Roads back to work.
